Works with your collections system

Art.industries does not replace your permanent-collection database. It handles exhibitions, loans, and donor work while your CMS stays the record for accessioned works.

  • Reference permanent-collection works by accession number instead of duplicating them.
  • Create loaned-in works directly when pieces arrive from other institutions or private lenders.
  • Keep temporary shows, outgoing loans, donor activity, and deaccession sales in one workspace.
  • CIDOC CRM, AAT, and Linked Open Data stay with the CMS where they belong.

Loans and condition reports

Lend a work to another museum or borrow from a collector, and the agreement, insurance value, and condition history sit on the same record.

  • Attach loan agreements with lender, dates, insurance value, and special conditions.
  • Generate outbound and return condition reports as signed PDFs.
  • Log custody across shipping, install, deinstall, and return with location and date.
  • Pull lender certificates and insurer-ready paperwork from the same data as your wall labels.

Donors and deaccession sales

Cultivate major donors and run the occasional deaccession sale with the same tools galleries use for collectors, adapted to institutional process.

  • Track gifts, pledges, board roles, and sponsorship history over years.
  • Send a private viewing room of headline works before the public opening.
  • Run deaccession sales through standard invoicing and Stripe with restricted-fund tags.
  • Export clean reports your finance team can reconcile without manual spreadsheets.

FAQ

Does this replace TMS, Mimsy, or Axiell?
No. Your CMS remains the permanent-collection record. Art.industries covers active programming: exhibitions, outgoing loans, donor CRM, and stewardship rooms. Permanent works link in by accession number.
How do outgoing loans work?
A loan record ties the work (by CMS accession), receiving institution, dates, insurance, custody chain (multi-location), and condition reports on each leg.
Can we use this for major-donor stewardship?
Yes. Donors are contacts with gift and pledge history. Private viewing rooms work the same way they do for gallery collector previews.
How are deaccession sales handled?
Through the standard sale flow (invoice, Stripe, settlement) with the deaccessioned work referenced from the CMS and restricted-fund tagging for finance.
Do you support CIDOC CRM or Linked Open Data?
Not as a primary feature. Those standards live in the CMS. Art.industries focuses on exhibition and loan operations around it.
Can we run our public website here?
Yes for temporary exhibitions and active programming (Website Studio). Deep permanent-collection search across thousands of accessioned works usually fits the CMS or a dedicated museum web platform better.
What about long-term conservation logging?
Attach condition reports to works on loan or in a temporary show. Long-term conservation on the permanent collection usually stays in the CMS conservation module.
