Sales and Invoices

Some things can be bought straight away. Others begin with an enquiry, a private presentation or an agreed price. Art.Industries supports both, with the item, customer and invoice connected from the first enquiry to the final payment. If you choose to take payments online, they are processed securely through our partnership with Stripe and paid into your own Stripe account. Art.Industries does not take a cut or percentage of the sale.

Ways to sell

One invoice, from deposit to balance

Each invoice holds the work, any extra charges and every payment made against it. Take a deposit when the price is agreed, send the balance when the work ships, and see at a glance what has been paid and what is still due.

Printed invoices with your branding

Download any invoice as a PDF with your logo, address and bank details, ready to print, attach to an email or pass to your bookkeeper. Clients who prefer to pay by bank transfer see exactly what is due and how to pay it, and the invoice stays connected to the work and the buyer.

Sell by enquiry, hold or private sale

Not every item belongs in a shopping cart. Share a private presentation, invite an enquiry or show a price on application, place the item on hold while the customer decides and add a release date. When the price is agreed, turn the sale into an invoice.

Sell directly from your website

Offer editions, publications, furniture, clothing, accessories and other eligible items through your Art.Industries website. Checkout is connected to live inventory, so availability and quantities update when an order is completed, while payments are processed through your connected Stripe account.

Tap to pay in person Coming soon

With the upcoming Art.Industries app, you will be able to take a card or phone payment in person, at the gallery, a fair or the studio door. The payment is recorded against the invoice, so the balance updates as soon as the card is tapped.

Invoices

Invoices that start from the record

Create invoices from existing records

Start from an item and a contact, with their details already in place. The sale becomes part of the history of both the work and the buyer.

Itemise, split and add charges

Add framing, crating or delivery, different tax rates per line, discounts and other currencies, and split one invoice between several payers.

Take deposits, balances or instalments

Send a Stripe payment link for the full amount, a deposit or scheduled instalments, and follow what is paid and what remains, with reminders.

Your sales. Your Stripe account. No cut.

Every payment and refund is recorded on the customer and the item. Stripe applies its standard processing fees; Art.Industries adds nothing.

Answers

About Sales and Invoices

Does Art.Industries take a percentage of my sales?

No. Art.Industries does not take a cut of your sales. Stripe processes the payment and charges its standard processing fees.

Do I need a Stripe account?

Only if you want customers to pay online. Checkout, payment links, deposits and instalments go through your own Stripe account. If you would rather be paid by bank transfer, you can still create invoices and export them as PDFs with your bank details, to send to clients or pass to your bookkeeper. Stripe is an option, not a requirement, so you can keep the workflow that suits your business.

Can I sell some items online and others by enquiry?

Yes. Each item can have a published price with checkout, an enquiry button or price on application, depending on how you want to sell it.

Can I split an invoice between several buyers?

Yes. One invoice can be divided between multiple payers, and each payment is recorded against it.

What about shipping?

Live shipping rates, labels and tracking come through Shippo. See Shipping and Logistics.
