Free certificate of authenticity maker
Fill in the work, add an image and sign it. The certificate updates as you type, and downloads as a PDF ready to print and send with the work.
What goes on a certificate of authenticity
A certificate travels with the work for its whole life. Collectors, auction houses and insurers read it to confirm what the work is and who made it.
The artist and the work
The artist's name, the title, the year, the medium and the dimensions. Give height before width, and depth for objects, in both inches and centimetres if the work may sell abroad.
An image
A clear photograph of the work ties the certificate to this piece and no other.
Edition details
For prints, casts and photographs, the edition number and edition size, such as 3 of 20, or the artist's proof number.
A statement of authenticity
A short sentence confirming the work is by the artist, with any copyright terms the artist keeps.
A signature, place and date
Signed by the artist, or by the gallery or estate that represents them. Keep a copy, and number your certificates if you issue many.
